Wading boots are thigh-high rubber boots. Like rubber boots, waders can be made of different materials. Neoprene is often used in waders, as good insulation is particularly important for longer stays in the water. Wading boots are mostly worn by anglers, e.g. for fly fishing, by professional fishermen, by landscapers for pond construction or also for private pond maintenance. Manufactured by the American company Hodgman, founded in 1838, during the gold rush in California (1848 to 1854) for the work of gold miners. This later evolved into wading boots for recreational use.
