Tips for the care and handling of rubber boots
Rubber boots also need care
Especially rubber boots, made of natural rubber, should be cleaned regularly to remove coarse dirt. Use water and possibly a light soap solution for this purpose. Natural rubber boots, but also all other rubber boots, should be protected from drying out, as they then tend to become brittle / crack, especially in stressed creases. Therefore, your rubber boots should be protected from excessive sunlight. Likewise, the boots should not be stored in particularly warm rooms (e.g. boiler room).
Natural rubber boots are unfortunately often underestimated in their need for care. In contrast to simple synthetic rubber boots, e.g. made of PVC, rubber boots with a high natural rubber content are a natural product that tends to become brittle if not treated carefully. Just as cracks in the soil occur during prolonged drought, this is exactly the phenomenon that occurs with natural rubber when it dries out. To prevent this brittleness, it is imperative to moisturise the boot by applying care products, silicone sprays, oils or other suitable products.
Natural rubber boots certainly offer the best wearing comfort, but unlike synthetic boots, they need a higher level of care, just like a classic leather boot.
The right stockings
Furthermore, our experience has shown that with rubber boots there is often no leakage, but the customer has the feeling that the feet are getting wet.
Here, the perceived foot moisture often depends on the stocking selection.
Pure cotton stockings, for example, absorb a lot of moisture but do not release it again, which inevitably leads to moisture in the rubber boot. If, on the other hand, good functional stockings such as those used in trekking/sports are worn in the rubber boot, they have the advantage of absorbing and transferring moisture. This creates a comfortable feeling in your rubber boot. Rubber boots have physical limits to moisture absorption and can only "breathe" to a limited extent through their lining.
If you follow these tips, you will certainly enjoy your boots for a long time.
